Verification inspections in Radiotherapy aim to ensure that the building design calculations are in accordance with As Built Design and are able to withstand both Gamma and Neutron radiation, main equipment, supporting equipment, safety of radioactive sources, human resources, and procedures have met radiation safety requirements and are safe for safety of workers, patients, society and the environment.

The inspection team headed by the Director of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Substances-BAPETEN Ishak acted as Head of the Inspector Team with members Ahmad Maulana, Yaya Umaya, and Lilis Misnawati carried out verification at Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital for the Elekta Brand Linac aircraft modality Type Synergy Platform.

As well as the Inspection Team at the Jakarta Hospital using the Bebig Saginova HDR Afterloader System brachytherapy aircraft with a Co-60 source, chaired by the Coordinator of the BAPETEN-Health Facilities Licensing Group Iin Indartati with members Made Pramayuni, Sulistiyoningsih and Maradi Abdillah.

The scope of the onsite inspection includes document and technical checks on the suitability of the design of the built facilities and the adequacy of the thickness of the radiation barrier in the radiotherapy bunker, ensuring the performance of the main equipment and supporting equipment by measuring radiation exposure and dosimetry testing as well as ensuring the flow of patients and the ability of personnel to operate the Linac aircraft and Brachytherapy according to standards, as well as inspection of radioactive source protection and safety equipment as well as the performance of the radioactive source safety system.

From the verification results, the Hospital is committed to completing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a certain time limit. The smooth running of the verification activities is supported by the Hospital who follows and welcomes the progress of the activities until the end. Any deficiencies are considered as input and technical advice towards fulfilling radiation safety in accordance with applicable Regulations and Standards.
