In order to realize the implementation of these regulations, BAPETEN held an Online Training on Radiation Protection and Safety (PKR) on 05 – 9 April 2021, to give guidance to Permit Holders through the development of Human Resources in radiation safety.

Through this training, BAPETEN will give guidance to participants about the impact of radiation that can occur on the use of radiation in interventional cardiology activities, guidance basic understanding of radiation protection, and foster safety culture, especially for specialist doctors and interventional cardiology health workers.

The event began with an activity report by Ummul Khair as the Sub Coordinator of the Implementation and Training Facilities of BAPETEN. In her report, Ummul said that this first PKR Training was attended by 26 participants consisting of 25 doctors and 1 nurse.

Furthermore, Ummul explained that the purpose of this training was to give knowledge about radiation, the basics of radiation protection and safety, and its application in supporting radiation workers to carry out services in intervention facilities.

The Head of Education and Training Center of BAPETEN Lukman Hakim, officially opened this training. Lukman explained the benefits of this training and what materials the participants would receive.

“This PKR training is really needed by all workers in the environment or facilities that have radiation sources. In this training, participants will learn how to improve safety related to radiation sources. We hope that the knowledge that will be given by the presenters can be accepted and understood," explained Lukman.

The training which lasted for 5 (five) days, was filled with material and discussions related to the problems faced by the participants in the field, and continued with independent learning. [Rus/BDL/BHKK/Bams/IP/RA]
