Bali International Hospital Radiotherapy License Verification
Kembali 03 Agustus 2024 | Berita BAPETENBAPETEN's Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR) conducted Radiotherapy Facility Verification activities at Bali International Hospital (BIH) from July 30 to August 3, 2024. This activity aims to ensure that the availability of bunkers for External Beam Therapy (Linac) and Brachytherapy is declared safe for the safety of workers, patients, the community, and the environment.
The Verification Team ensures that the design meets safety standards through the calculation of the design of the radiation barrier building and main equipment, supporting equipment, human resource competencies, and operating procedures for radiotherapy operational activities using both Linac and Brachytherapy that meet radiation safety and source safety requirements.
The Inspection Team led by DPFRZR Director Ishak, with team members Iin Indartati, Made Pramayuni, Ahmad Maulana, Made Pramayuni, Yaya Umaya and Lilis Misnawati conducted verification for Radiotherapy Facilities with Brachytherapy Aircraft Brand Bebig Saginova Type HDR Afterloading System with Co-60 source and Linac Aircraft Brand Varian Type TrueBeam.
The scope of the onsite inspection includes document and technical inspection of the suitability of the design of the built facility and the adequacy of the radiation barrier thickness of the radiotherapy bunker, ensuring the performance of the main and supporting equipment, conducting radiation exposure measurements and dosimetry testing, ensuring patient flow and the ability of personnel to operate Brachytherapy and Linac aircraft according to standards, inspection of radioactive source protection and safety equipment and performance of radioactive source safety systems.
Based on the results of the verification of the radiotherapy operating license, the Hospital is committed to completing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a certain time limit. The smooth running of the verification activities was supported by the Hospital who followed and welcomed the activities until the end, any deficiencies were considered as input and technical advice on the fulfillment of radiation safety by applicable regulations and standards.
