The event was opened by Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN Soegeng Sumbarjo by explaining the purpose of BAPETEN's arrival to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. In his opening remarks, he said, "Previously BAPETEN was under the coordination of the Ministry of Research and Technology, but after the Ministry of Research and Technology changed to the Ministry of Education and Culture-Research and Technology, BAPETEN was no longer under its coordination and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry was the right agency to coordinate with BAPETEN judging from the BAPETEN’s function".

Soegeng continued with his presentation on several related matters between BAPETEN and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry such as, institutional coordination, MOU BAPETEN-KLHK, Nuclear Safety Seminar, Radioactive Sources Waste Coordinator, NPP-SMR Development Plan, supervision and management of Radioactive Participating Minerals.

The event continued with a response from the Minister, Siti said "BAPETEN will be very in accordance with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry because there is relevance, namely social whose purpose is for the welfare of the people including health and safety, public safety which is also a principle of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry".

With this coordination, it is hoped that it can increase synergy between BAPETEN and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in the future. The hearing ended with a brief discussion and Q&A. (BHKK/OR/RA)
