The hearing was opened by the Deputy Chairperson of Commission XII, Putri Zulkifli Hasan, who, in her opening remarks, requested that each agency present its strategic programs and planned budget utilization for the 2026 fiscal year.

During the session, each agency outlined its planned programs and strategic roles within the 2026 RKA-K/L. Representing BAPETEN, the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment, Haendra Subekti, explained that BAPETEN’s 2026 budget ceiling comprises the Management Support Program and the Science and Technology Research and Innovation Program. The majority of the budget is allocated to personnel and operational expenditures, while the remainder supports technical activities such as licensing and inspections, the enhancement of nuclear security systems, and the formulation of nuclear regulations.

Furthermore, the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment proposed an additional budget to support enhanced nuclear oversight, the development of a participatory oversight information system, and an oversight system for Nuclear Power Plants (NPP or PLTN). This proposal aims to strengthen BAPETEN’s role in ensuring national nuclear safety, security, and preparedness.

At this hearing, the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment was accompanied by the Acting Head of the Bureau of Planning, Information, and Finance, Esturini Fitriyanti; Director of Licensing of Nuclear Installation and Materials, Wiryono; Director of Regulation of Nuclear Installation and Materials, Nur Syamsi Syam; Director of Inspection of Nuclear Installation and Materials, Lukman Hakim; and Coordinator of the Program Functional Group, Cahyani Wahyuning Diah.

During the discussion session, members of Commission XII of the DPR RI approved BAPETEN’s proposed budget ceiling for 2026 and urged the government to promptly appoint a definitive Chairman of BAPETEN in accordance with applicable regulations. [BHKK/GP/SP/Translator: GP]
