Safety Culture Interview: Exploring Safety Values to Improve Safety Culture at the G.A. Siwabessy Multipurpose Reactor (RSG-GAS)

Siwabessy Multipurpose Reactor (RSG-GAS). The series of assessments began with a survey activity that was carried out on March 8, 2024, and was followed by document evaluation and observation on June 10-14, 2024. Furthermore, on July 24, 2024, BAPETEN conducted interviews with reactor managers and executives at the G.A. Siwabessy Multipurpose Reactor.
The interviews focused on exploring fundamental safety values and how these values can be implemented to build a strong safety culture in the nuclear environment. One of the important points that emerged in this interview was the importance of leadership commitment. Leaders at all levels must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and make safety a top priority. In addition to leadership commitment, this interview also highlights the importance of employee involvement in building a culture of safety, from the highest to the lowest levels within the nuclear organization.
