Public Consultation of The Draft Law of Electricity with Stakeholders in Makassar

BAPETEN through the Directorate of Regulation of Nuclear Installations and Materials (DP2IBN) held Public Consultation activities related to the drafting of changes to Law No. 10 of 1997 on Electricity, and this time was held in Makassar City, Thursday (10/6/2021).

This Public Consultation event was held to ask for input and responses from experts in South Sulawesi, especially in Makassar to the Material arrangement of the Draft Law on The Replacement Law No. 10 of 1997 on Electricity.

Present at this activity was Deputy Chairman of Nuclear Safety Assessment Dahlia Cakrawati Sinaga, Plt. Governor of South Sulawesi Province, Special Staff of the Governor of South Sulawesi, General Bureau of the Secretariat of South Sulawesi Province, Bureau of Law and Human Rights of the Regional Secretariat of South Sulawesi Province, and South Sulawesi Regional Police, Representatives of several universities in Makassar, including several hospitals in Makassar and representatives from several universities in Makassar.

Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment Dahlia Cakrawati Sinaga said this activity aims to gather input from stakeholders on Law No. 10 of 1997 on Electricity to be replaced, because since it was enacted in 1997 until now there has never been any change or adjustment.

"Over the past 20 years there have been various changes and developments both internationally and nationally. Changes in social conditions and technological developments, especially in the nuclear field, also occur a lot during that time span, this is the basis for the need for change," she said.

Furthermore, Dahlia conveyed that the public consultation activities carried out today are the implementation of the mandate of Law No. 12 of 2011 on the Establishment of Laws and Regulations. This meeting will also be used to observe the formulation of the provisions in this Draft Law.

"It is hoped that today's meeting can bring progress to the military arrangements going forward and be a good opportunity to build this country in a competitive age," Dahlia added.

The event was opened by Plt. Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman. He stated the Provincial Government expressed its highest gratitude and appreciation to Bapeten, for the Public Consultation activities held today in Makassar. This activity is an important and strategic step for us in an effort to produce good laws and regulations, so that there are no gaps in substance and can reach out and provide solutions to solve problems faced in the field of electricity.

Entering the presentation session, Director of Regulation of Nuclear Installation and Materials (DP2IBN) Haendra Subekti conveyed the status of the Draft Law on replacement Law No. 10 of 1997 at this time. According to Haendra, the status of the Draft Law is still in the stage of harmonization by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, so it is not final. On this occasion Haendra outlined the Material of the Draft Law on Replacement Law No. 10 of 1997 from every chapters comprehensively.

The next presentation was delivered by Professor of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University Abrar Saleng regarding the response to the Material Arrangement of the Draft Law on The Replacement Law No. 10 of 1997.

The next response related to the Material Arrangement of the Draft Law on The Replacement Law No. 10 of 1997 was delivered by Sociologists - Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences, Makassar State University Muhammad Syukur.

Through this activity, many inputs were received by Bapeten, both through presentations from sources, and during QnA sessions. This will be an input for Bapeten, and Batan Teams. [BHKK/Bams/SP/OR/RA]
