After attending the Ceremony and Press Conference of the Task Force for Handling Cs-137 Radionuclide Radiation Hazards and Public Health Risks for At-Risk Communities, BAPETEN carried out a series of technical preparations for the decontamination of Cs-137 contaminated sources, conducted on 13 October 2025 as the initial step of the operation.
On this occasion, at the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (KBRN) Task Force Command Post of the Pasgegana Brimob Police, the Director of Technical Support and Nuclear Emergency Preparedness (DKKN) Yudi Pramono, the Head of Centre for Regulatory Assessment for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (P2STPFRZR) Dedik Eko Sumargo, the Deputy of BAPETEN’s Emergency Response Team Lead (STD) Agus Yudhi Pristianto, along with the decontamination supervision team, participated in the technical coordination for the decontamination preparations, led by the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Management Agency (KLH/BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq. The preparatory meeting was also attended by representatives from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Detachment (Detasemen Nubika) of the Indonesian Army’s Directorate of Engineering, the Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (KBRN) Unit of the Brimob Police Gegana, and other relevant parties.
The activity then continued with dose rate measurements at several predetermined locations, including the collection of data from nearby residential houses. The approach involved a detailed survey of each site to map radiation exposure within the locations, enabling the planning of appropriate decontamination methods while ensuring safety. The activity concluded with a daily evaluation report presented by all participating parties, including BAPETEN, KLH/BPLH, BRIN, the Army’s Nubika Detachment, the Brimob KBRN Unit, and other relevant stakeholders.
