BAPETEN and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) held a Handover of Nuclear Policy Paper at the BAPETEN Office, October 9, 2024. This activity is the submission of a Policy Paper made by BRIN to BAPETEN as a support material in carrying out the task of supervising the utilization of nuclear power in Indonesia.
Attending this event were BRIN Deputy for Development Policy Mego Pinandito, BAPETEN’s Acting Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment Mukhlisin, BAPETEN’s Director of Licensing of Nuclear Installation and Materials (DPIBN) Wiryono, BAPETEN’s Director of Inspection of Nuclear Installation and Materials (DI2BN) Lukman Hakim and all BAPETEN employees.
In his opening remarks, DPIBN Director Wiryono expressed his appreciation for the policy paper. “We have seen the important points in the paper, we are very grateful to BRIN, we will use this paper as a consideration in making decisions at BAPETEN,” he said.
Meanwhile, BRIN Deputy for Development Policy Mego Pinandito said in addition to the handover ceremony, this activity was useful for increasing collaboration between BRIN and BAPETEN, especially in the aspect of nuclear power utilization. He hopes that this event can strengthen nuclear power supervision in Indonesia, both in terms of regulations and policies.
“Hopefully this study can help in drafting regulations on the construction of Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN) in Indonesia,” he added.
BAPETEN's Acting. Deputy for Nuclear Safety Assessment Mukhlisin also welcomed the submission of this policy paper to BAPETEN. According to him, the study provided is very comprehensive and useful as a consideration in deciding nuclear policy at BAPETEN.
Furthermore, a presentation on the policy paper by BRIN representative Sriyana, he explained the study entitled Identification of Potential NPP Sites in Indonesia for Net Zero Emission Fulfillment based on Exclusion Factors and Regional Development Plans.
The event was closed with the signing of the minutes of acceptance between BRIN and BAPETEN represented by the Acting. Deputy for Nuclear Safety Assessment Mukhlisin and BRIN Deputy for Development Policy Mego Pinandito. [BHKK/Da]
