Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection of BAPETEN Attends the 2024 PDSRI Annual Scientific Meeting

The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) participated in the 17th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Radiology Specialist Doctors Association (PDSRI), held from July 18 to 20, 2024, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. This prestigious event brought together radiology specialists from across Indonesia to enhance their professional competence through various scientific programs, including symposiums, workshops, and collaborative activities.

The 2024 PDSRI Annual Scientific Meeting was held to improve the competence of radiology specialists in Indonesia through a radiology symposium by presenting speakers from within and outside the country to discuss various latest topics in the field of radiology and radiology workshops that provide practical training to participants on various latest radiology techniques and procedures, strengthen cooperation and communication between radiology specialists in Indonesia, increase the role and contribution of PDSRI in developing education and research in the field of radiology in Indonesia, and increase public awareness of the importance of radiology in maintaining health.

Representing BAPETEN, Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection, Zainal Arifin delivered a presentation titled "Supervision Policy for the Utilization of Nuclear Energy in the Health Sector." He outlined BAPETEN's regulatory, licensing, and inspection framework, which ensures radiation safety and security in healthcare by mitigating risks and minimizing the likelihood and impact of incidents. In the era of online single submission, many laws and regulations have been amended, and licensing process activities have been enacted with the enactment of Government Regulation (PP) No. 5 of 2021. The licensing process for business actors is submitted through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, which is integrated with the Licensing System (Balis 2.5) with simplified types of activities, a focus on technical requirements, and shortened evaluation times. On this occasion it was also conveyed that the inspection carried out by the BAPETEN inspector of the facility was carried out to ensure that the use of nuclear energy was carried out in accordance with the Nuclear Energy Laws and Regulations. And the determination of the Safety and Security Index (IKK) value must be met by users of Ionizing Radiation Sources, which consist of Permit Conditions (Weight 30%), Human Resources (Weight 25%), Monitoring of Radiation Worker Doses (Weight 10%), Monitoring of Radiation Worker Health (10%), Availability of Safety and Security Equipment (10%), Monitoring of Work Area Exposure (10%), and Documents and Records. On this occasion it was also conveyed that facilities that have an IKK of 95.5 can be nominated for the BAPETEN Award. (Iin Indartati/BHKK/CD/Translator: GP)
