Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN Sugeng Sumbarjo, accompanied by Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection Zainal Arifin and Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment Dahlia C. Sinaga and several other related officials, received a visit from the Technical Officer of the IAEA, Mr. Ughur Bezdeguemelli on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
This visit was intended to report the results of the discussion of proposed activities under the IAEA TC Project for the period 2022-2023 and the period 2024-2025, which had previously been discussed on November 7-8, 2022 in Jakarta.
Ughur reported that the 2-day meeting yesterday was very successful and had succeeded in agreeing on the proposed IAEA TC Project for the 2022-2023 period and the 2024-2025 period. Meanwhile, the Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN apologized for not being able to attend the meeting because he had to open and attend the BAPETEN Award 2022.
Proposals for these activities include expert missions, workshops, conferences, and scientific visits covering the fields of nuclear safety and radiation safety. Proposals in other fields such as public communication as a supervisory body can also still be proposed.
The proposed activities under this cooperation project are focused on supervising the nuclear power utilization in Indonesia, including in the context of the nuclear power plant construction plan for the SMR type and norm supervision. In addition, supervision of health facilities (BNCT, Proton Beam Therapy, and Cyclotron).
Also attending the courtesy call was the Head of Bureau of Legal Affairs, Cooperation and Public Communication Indra Gunawan, Director of Licensing for Nuclear Installations and Materials Budi Rohman, Coordinator of the Cooperation Function Group Indah Annisa, and Sub-Coordinator of the Foreign Cooperation Function Group Deni Rahmat Sanjaya.
