Assessment and Regulatory Coordination Meeting

The Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment held an online Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for Assessment and Regulations, Wednesday (03/02). The Coordination Meeting was also attended by the Chairman of BAPETEN, the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment (PKN), the Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection (PI), the Executive Secretary (Sestama), high-ranking officials, and coordinators (function groups) from various work units at BAPETEN.

The Coordination Meeting was opened by the Deputy Chairman of PKN Dahlia C. Sinaga who said that in this coordination meeting there are several things related to activities in 2021 and input for the following years, up to the Strategic Plan would be presented. Dahlia also hopes for input and cooperation, both at the PI and Sestama, in conducting studies and regulations so that later the quality of the studies produced will be even better.

Chairman of BAPETEN Jazi Eko Istiyanto, in his direction said, “We must be able to overcome and produce quality regulations even with limited funds. For example, by collaborating with universities to conduct research and studies on nuclear safety, security, and safeguards."

In addition, Sugeng Sumbarjo as the Sestama also conveyed his direction. Sugeng conveyed several expectations of the results of the assessment to support institutional issues, namely the national research program for the development of a monitoring system for nuclear safety and security, the BAPETEN Strategic Plan 2020-2024, domestic and foreign cooperation schemes in the context of strengthening the supervisory study system, strengthening supervision laboratories, support system for supervision (licensing and inspection) and institutions, regulations related to information and communication technologies security provisions in nuclear installations, risk-based OSS, BAPETEN Big Data Analytics (BDA), as well as intellectual property rights and plagiarism related to the use of surveillance data in accordance with applicable regulations.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman for PI Zainal Arifin said that the assessment could certainly provide and receive input, both from permits, inspections and regulations.

"Until now, there has been no assessment on Balis. I hope to provide input regarding the Balis assessment system. In addition, there is also a new assessment related to transportation permits for tracking radioactive substances, what if the transportation of radioactive substances using Gojek or drones. This is something that needs to be studied, both from the legal aspect as well as the safety and security," said Zainal.

The Coordination Meeting was continued with the presentation of the 2021 Assessment Activities by the Head of P2STPFRZR and the Head of P2STPIBN, as well as the presentation of the 2021 Regulation Activities by the Director of DP2FRZR and the Director of DP2IBN. The presentation will show all assessment activities and the formation of regulations in work units under the PKN which will be carried out in 2021, especially activities involving the leadership and all related work units.
