The purpose of this cooperation is to improve the safety and security of workers and the community, as well as provide environmental protection from radiation hazards. Then, cooperation is carried out to realize the increased effectiveness of nuclear supervision through resource development and education, research, and public service implementation.

The signing began with remarks from Vice Rector IV for Planning, Research, Innovation, and Cooperation of Andalas University Henmaidi. In his speech, it was said that this event was an opportunity for students to intern and carry out independent campus programs outside the campus. Then, Andalas University was awarded the holder of the most patents in Indonesia, and the campus had a curriculum relevant to nuclear power supervision, especially in the field of research.

The next speech was from Plt. Head of BAPETEN Sugeng Sumbarjo conveyed that the moment of signing the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement would support supervising the utilization of nuclear power because BAPETEN's duties began to use risk-based methods.

It is important to note that the implementation of inspections is carried out through visits and online. This is due to the limited resources owned by BAPETEN, as the main focus of the agreement text on this occasion is information technology, where data needs to be processed to be utilized in decision-making.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was carried out directly by Sugeng Sumbarjo and Henmaidi. Furthermore, it was followed by signing the Cooperation Agreement, namely by the Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection of BAPETEN, Zainal Arifin and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Andalas University, Ikhwana Elfitri.

The activity was witnessed directly by the Head of the Bureau of Planning, Information and Finance (BPIK), Achmad Bussamah and Director of Inspection of Nuclear Installation and Materials (DIIBN) Lukman Hakim and attended by the relevant staff of Andalas University and BAPETEN.

The points agreed on this occasion include developing human resources through education and training, downstream or commercialization of research results and research partnerships, curriculum development and learning, scientific studies that support nuclear supervision, absorption of graduates, guest lecturer activities of industrial practitioners, empowerment of expertise, exchange of data and/or scientific information, Teaching Factory (TEFA) / Innovation Center (PUI), supporting global reputation, community service, internship support and Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM), joint use of facilities and infrastructure in technical activities and scientific meetings.
