BAPETEN as a Regulatory Body has not implemented a monitoring system in the field of nuclear medicine and the production of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals effectively and efficiently, so it is necessary to increase the specific understanding of cyclotrons both in terms of use and supervision including construction design, radiation shielding requirements, radiation protection, acceptance tests, commissioning tests, operational systems and transportation of radiopharmaceuticals to several nuclear medicine centers. BAPETEN to ensure the safety of patients, workers and the public and ensure that the production of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals meets standards.

The aim of this activity is to benchmark the supervision system between BAPETEN, the National Environment Agency of Singapore (NEA), and the Ministry of Health of Singapore (MoH) regarding the supervision of radiation facilities in the field of nuclear medicine and the production of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals (cyclotrons).

This activity can provide benchmarking insight for BAPETEN in carrying out its main duties related to drafting regulations, providing licensing services, and carrying out inspections, especially for radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production activities by gathering information in terms of construction and operation regulations.

BAPETEN held a meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Ministry of Health of Singapore, Singapore Radiopharmaceutical Pte., Ltd and Singapore General Hospital. Delegates from the Nuclear Energy Regulation Agency include Zainal Arifin as Deputy for Licensing and Inspection, Ishak as Director of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials, Asep Saefulloh H ermawan as Director of Inspection for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials, Mukhlisin as Director of Regulations for Supervision of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials and staff other related.

The activity agenda began with a meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Suryo Pratomo at the Indonesian embassy in Singapore. This is because hospitals in Singapore, especially for nuclear medicine, radiology and radiotherapy services, are referral hospitals in various countries and are recognized as one of the best hospitals in the world. Zainal Arifin said that it is hoped that this activity will provide us with knowledge and learn from Singapore's experience in producing, supplying and providing nuclear medicine services. Activities on the second day began with a visit to the radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production facilities at the Singapore Radiopharmaceutical, Pte Ltd facility. (SRP).

The second day's activities continued with a visit to the General Electric Company (GE) Healthcare office. During this visit, the delegation was facilitated by Yuda Hadiprodjo as Regional Director Strategic Accounts and welcomed by Rajasekar Thiyagarajan as Director - Molecular Imaging ASEAN at GE Healthcare. On the third day, the next two delegation teams visited the SRP facilities.

The conclusion obtained from this visit is that this SRP meets GMP standards, the hot cell room is a clean room with positive pressure while the cyclotron room is negative pressure. Then the activities continued with a visit to Singapore's general hospital, Singapore General Hospital (SGH). The information we got from S. Somanesan as Senior Principal Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer is that the only radionuclide production at SGH is FDG which is also distributed to several hospitals.

It is hoped that with this benchmarking activity, all supervision carried out by BAPETEN can be better, especially in the field of radiation facilities in the field of nuclear medicine and radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production facilities. (DP2FRZR/Ema/BHKK/CD).
