BAPETEN Provides Consultation and Accelerated Licensing Services for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Facilities in West Java
Kembali 04 Juni 2025 | Berita BAPETEN | 7 lihatThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR), held Consultation and Accelerated Licensing Services for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Facilities in Bandung City, West Java, on June 3–4, 2025. The event, held at the West Java Provincial Health Office, aimed to provide technical guidance and direct consultation services to permit applicants regarding compliance with Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Licensing Requirements, which have been integrated through the Online Single Submission (OSS) Risk-Based Approach (RBA) with Balis 2.5.
The Consultation and Licensing Services were implemented by inviting 60 different agencies daily for hospitals, community health centers, and clinics in West Java whose permits had expired. This licensing consultation service was attended by invited participants and other agencies in the licensing process.
The event began with opening remarks by the Head of the West Java Provincial Health Office, Dr. Raden Vini Adiani Dewi, who stated, "Equipment that uses radiation is not only necessary for patient safety but also ensures the safety of workers, patients, the community, and the environment. We hope that through this activity, hospitals can fulfill BAPETEN's licensing requirements, including the Social Health Insurance Administration Body (BPJS) claims, to prevent hospitals from incurring losses."
The Director of DPFRZR, Asep Saefulloh Hermawan, continued in his remarks, stating, "This technical guidance and consultation service for radiation facilities and radioactive materials licensing is being provided in collaboration with the West Java Provincial Health Office. This aligns with the Ministry of Health's health transformation, which aims to improve the accessibility and quality of healthcare services, particularly for primary and referral services, utilizing advanced medical technology, particularly for diagnostic and interventional radiology equipment. This health transformation also encompasses Cancer, Heart, Stroke, and Uronephrology (KJSU) and Maternal and Child Health (KIA) through the procurement of radiotherapy equipment, nuclear medicine equipment, and radioisotope production equipment (cyclotrons). BAPETEN's licensing services have been online since 2016, and input from business actors is crucial if there are still obstacles in meeting licensing requirements. Furthermore, there is an agreement between BAPETEN and the BPJS that all personnel utilizing nuclear energy must be listed on the permit."
The event continued with a presentation on "Nuclear Energy Supervision Policy" by Asep Saefulloh Hermawan and a presentation on "Registration Policy and Census Mechanism for Ionizing Radiation Sources" by Samsu Riza Wibowo, a staff member from the Directorate of Inspection of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DIFRZR). This was followed by a session on licensing services and live consultations.
The second day of the Consultation and Licensing Services for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Facilities began with presentations on "Criteria for Acceptance of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Licensing Requirements" by Sulistiyoningsih and "Mechanism for Submitting BAPETEN Licensing Applications" by Toni Wahyu Pamungkas. At the conclusion of the presentations, a discussion and Q&A session was held with participants discussing the licensing requirements and the registration and census mechanisms for ionizing radiation sources by the inspection.
Participants' enthusiasm for attendance was utilized to consult directly with BAPETEN's healthcare facility licensing evaluators regarding challenges in the licensing process for nuclear energy utilization in the healthcare sector. The same-day permit service can be provided if the requirements are met.
