Surveillance of Conformity Test Institute and Dosimetry Laboratory at BPFK Medan
Kembali 02 September 2022 | Berita BAPETENBAPETEN conducted surveillance of the X-ray Radiology and Interventional Aircraft Conformity Test Institute (LUK) and the Dosimetry Laboratory (LD) at the Medan Health Facility Security Center (BPFK) from 30 August to 2 September 2022. This activity was to assess compliance and performance of LUK and LD in fulfilling the appointment requirements during the appointment period.
This surveillance is a mandate from Articles 40 and 41 of BAPETEN Chairman Regulation (Perka) No. 11/2015 on the External Dosimetry Laboratory and Article 44 of BAPETEN Regulation No. 2/2018 on the Compliance Test of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology X-Ray Machines which states BAPETEN must carry out surveillance at least once during the appointment period.
As LUK, BPFK Medan has received an appointment for the sub-scope of testing for General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, CT Scan and Dental Equipment testing. As for the Dosimetry Laboratory activities, BPFK Medan has obtained a Registration Certificate for the evaluation of individual Thermoluminescent Dosimeters (TLD) for Hp (10) until 2025.
This surveillance was led directly by the Director of Technical Support and Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Zulkarnain with the assistance of the LUK Surveillance Team namely Rini Suryanti, Alimuddin and Diah Astuti Indarwati and the LD Surveillance Team namely Suryo Adi Ari Santosa, Edhy Kuntowibowo and Irma Septi Ardiani. Meanwhile, BPFK Medan was led by Plh. The Head of BPFK Medan and all technical staff at the UKPR Lab, PDP Lab and the Operations Administration Section who are responsible for services for both types of activities.
Surveillance activities include checking technical and quality records, laboratory performance, qualifications, competency and personnel performance, and conformity of equipment up to the latest quality management system document in possession.
Apart from carrying out surveillance activities monitoring the performance of LUK and LD, this activity also carried out an LHU evaluation consultation on the first day of the activity. This consignment is prioritized to confirm LHU which is constrained at BPFK Medan and equalize the perception of evaluation between Qualified Examiners - Experts from LUK BPFK Medan and BAPETEN Experts.
This activity ended with the presentation of surveillance notes, discussion and signing and submission of the surveillance dossier to Plh. Head of BPFK Medan. Furthermore, the Quality Assurance Function Group (KFJM) of the Directorate of Nuclear Engineering and Preparedness (DKKN) will issue a Surveillance Report (LHS) for the two activities referring to the approved surveillance BAP and will be given a deadline for BPFK Medan to follow up on LHS no later than 30 days since LHS received.
It is expected that the implementation of this surveillance can improve the quality of service from BPFK Medan for both LUK and LD activities. (DKKN/SA/BHKK/Da/RA)
