Socialization of Diagnostic Guideline Level and Technical Guidance for Patient Dose Reporting in Bali
Kembali 21 Mei 2024 | Berita BAPETENThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Centre for Regulatory Assessment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (P2STPFRZR), held a socialization of Diagnostic Guideline Level (TPD, or Tingkat Panduan Diagnostik) and technical guidance for patient dose reporting for Dental Radiography Modality on May 21, 2024, in a hybrid manner by inviting offline representatives of hospitals and clinics in Bali. This socialization and technical guidance is intended to increase knowledge regarding radiation protection for patients, as well as increase commitment regarding dose data reporting from health facilities through the Si-INTAN application.
In his introductory remarks, Rusmanto, the Lead of the Health Assessment Function Group Team, stated that "the determination of TPD and its implementation in facilities is expected to be a form of BAPETEN's presence in the community in ensuring patient safety, where the radiation dose received by patients is at the right value."
Furthermore, Rusmanto explained that BAPETEN has determined TPD for all modalities. “As of April 24, Indonesia has had a complete TPD for six modalities, and currently BAPETEN is compiling a compilation document of all these modalities, which is expected to be used as a reference in the implementation of patient dose optimization by all health facilities in Indonesia, perhaps even by health facilities at the international level,” he added.
The event was then continued with a presentation from the Chairperson of the Patient Dose Mapping Working Group, Endang Kunarsih, regarding TPD, who in her presentation conveyed the basic understanding of medical exposure, the need for patient radiation dose management, the level of diagnostic guidelines, and its application in optimizing patient doses. Endang also conveyed the obligation to report patient dose data to BAPETEN.
The presentation regarding the application of TPD in the field of dental radiology (RKG, or Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi) was delivered by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Dental Radiology Association (IKARGI), Haris Nasutianto. Haris conveyed several radiography techniques in RKG, dental radiography for pregnant women and children, radiation protection in the field of RKG, and the application of TPD in the field of RKG.
The introduction material for Si-INTAN and reporting of patient dose data was delivered by Ida Bagus Gede Putra Pratama. In his presentation, Tama explained the legal basis for reporting patient doses, several references used in the evaluation process for reporting patient doses, things to consider in implementing TPD, the benefits of using Si-Intan, and the mechanism for using Si-INTAN.
Participants who attended offline and those who took part in the online technical guidance activities, which included details on reporting dose data and the application of TPD in the RKG field, raised a variety of questions during the discussion and Q&A period that followed the presentation session.
