In his opening remarks, Chairman of BAPETEN Jazi Eko Istiyanto stated that BAPETEN aware of the risk arise by combining the power of internet and Industrial Control System (ICS). "It is why we (BAPETEN) start the campaign of the importance of increasing cyber security to facilities, especially to those that handle nuclear or radioactive materials", he explained. "Other government institutions will only focus on cyber security in financial and banking industries, whereas BAPETEN understands the risk and threat of such combination (internet and ICS) in many  sectors, and it must therefore be better managed".

Jazi thanks the IAEA for funding the course. He hopes that it will stimulate awareness of importance of information and computer security among participants. Experts involved in this course including S. K. Parulkar (IAEA), Mark Fabro (Lofty Perch, Inc. Canada), Ali Awan (PNRA, Pakistan), and Chris Stevens (ANSTO, Australia).

Topics covered in the course including IAEA's Nuclear Security-CS Program, Threat and Consequences Awareness, CS Interplay with Other Domains, Legislative and Regulatory Framework for CS, Sensitive Information Management, Risk Assessment, Conducting CS Assessment and other relevant issues.
