The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR), conducted a Radiotherapy Facility Verification at PKU (Community Welfare Supervisor or Pembina Kesejahteraan Umat) Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, from March 17 to 19, 2025. The Radiotherapy Facility Verification aimed to ensure the availability of a bunker for radiotherapy using a linear accelerator (Linac) for workers, patients, the public, and the environment. The verification team ensured that the design met safety standards through calculations of the radiation protection structure and main equipment, supporting equipment, human resource competency, and operating procedures for Linac operations that met radiation safety requirements.

The Inspection Team, led by BAPETEN Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection, Zainal Arifin, and team members Asep Saefulloh Hermawan, Iin Indartati, and Made Pramayuni, conducted the verification of the Radiotherapy Facility using the Halcyon 4.0 Linac.

The on-site inspection scope includes document and technical review to ensure the suitability of the constructed facility design and the adequacy of the radiation barrier thickness in the radiotherapy bunker, ensuring the performance of main and supporting equipment, conducting radiation exposure measurements and dosimetry tests, ensuring patient flow and personnel capability in operating the Linac meet standards, and inspecting radiation protection and safety equipment, as well as the performance of its safety systems.

Based on the results of the radiotherapy operating permit verification, the hospital committed to completing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a specified timeframe. The successful verification process was supported by the hospital's participation and positive response to the process. Any deficiencies were considered as input and technical suggestions for compliance with radiation safety regulations and applicable safety standards.

It is expected that the additional facilities at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping will be able to provide comprehensive services at affordable prices for those in need, and the commitment to providing safe, effective radiotherapy services is focused on improving patients' quality of life.
