INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE TRAINING (IRT) - COURSE TRANSITION WORKSHOP (CTW)

Global level of nuclear security has become a serious concern of all countries in the world. The threat of terrorism globally makes worry about the use of nuclear weapons or the fall of radioactive substances into the hands of terrorism. With the formation of the Nuclear Security Summit in 2010 with 52 members, it is the commitment of all countries in preventing crimes using nuclear weapons. Indonesia's joining in the Nuclear Security Summit indicates that Indonesia is taking an active role in building global nuclear security.

For this reason, the Detachement of Chemical, Biological, and Radioactive (KBR) of Gegana Corps Brimob Polri in collaboration with the United State Department of Energy (US DoE) held an International Response Training (IRT)–Course Transition Workshop (CTW).

The training aims to provide knowledge to the KBR detachement in charge of responding in the event of a threat using radioactive or nuclear materials. By looking at the radioactive threat to security, it is very important for every KBR member to understand and know in detail about radioactive materials in order to support their daily tasks.

US DoE, BATAN and BAPETEN acted as Instructors in this activity. The speaker from BAPETEN was represented by the Technical Coordinator Zulkarnain, who conveyed about the National Nuclear Security Program.

The event was held online and offline on 15 - 18 September 2020, at the Gineung Pratidina of Corps Brimob Polri Building, including participants from 15 personnel of KBR, 2 personnel of Polda Metro Jaya, 6 personnel Brimobda unit (West Java, East Java, Central Java, D.I. Yogyakarta, Banten and Lampung), and from all Brimobda Units. [DKKN/Zulkarnain/BHKK/SP].
