Exploration of Nuclear Training Institution Candidates at the Malang Health Technology Institute Widya Cipta Husada
Kembali 07 Juni 2024 | Berita BAPETENThe Directorate of Technical Support and Nuclear Emergency Preparedness (DKKN) of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) carried out an exploration activity for Nuclear Training Institution candidates at the Malang Health Technology Institute Widya Cipta Husada (ITKM WCH) on 5-7 June 2024. This activity was carried out in line with the development of health facilities in Indonesia and the availability of Radiation Protection Officer (PPR) training institutions, which were considered still insufficient to meet the national PPR needs; therefore, BAPETEN is trying to find and recruit new training institutions.
ITKM WCH, which was established in 2009, was chosen because it has potential in connection with the existence of the Diploma (D3) Radiodiagnostic and Radiotherapy Study Program, which is the only one in Malang Raya. Through this exploration, it is hoped that it can provide an overview and initiation of ITKM WCH to contribute to becoming a nuclear training institution in the scope of medical PPR.
The visiting BAPETEN team was led by the Coordinator of the Quality Assurance Function Group, Rini Suryanti, accompanied by other BAPETEN Radiation Supervisor members, namely Joni S. Kadir, Diah Astuti Indarwati, and Irma Septi Ardiani.
This exploratory activity was welcomed positively by the Chairperson of the ITKM WCH Foundation, Tayubi Hariyanto, and the Chancellor of ITKM WCH, Eny Yuniyati, and all her staff. In her remarks, Eny Yuniyati expressed her gratitude for BAPETEN's working visit and stated that ITKM WCH is very open to establishing a nuclear training institute.
"I hope that with this activity, the information needed for the appointment of the Nuclear Training Institute can be obtained, as well as guidance from BAPETEN in its formation," said Eny.
On the first day, ITKM WCH presented the ITKM WCH Profile, including its human resources, facilities, and infrastructure. Through the presentation, it is known that ITKM WCH has its own hospital, which is used for practice, namely Salsabila Husada Hospital located in Malang Regency, East Java.
The following day, BAPETEN delivered a presentation related to the utilization of ionizing radiation sources and the procedures for appointing a Nuclear Training Institute. After the presentation and discussion session, it was continued with a visit to the facilities and infrastructure to assess the extent to which the facilities and equipment owned could support the implementation of the Nuclear Training Institute activities. The visit included classrooms, radiology laboratories, and other supporting rooms such as libraries, places of worship, and parking lots.
At the end of the visit, the BAPETEN Team concluded that ITKM WCH has sufficient potential to become a nuclear training institute within the scope of PPR Medik. It is hoped that ITKM WCH can immediately process the addition of KBLI 74829 to the NIB it has and, in parallel, fulfill other requirements referring to BAPETEN Regulation Number 3 of 2021 so that it can immediately submit the appointment of a Nuclear Training Institute to BAPETEN.
