Jazi Eko istiyanto, Chairman of BAPETEN said IRRS was established to strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of national regulatory infrastructure for nuclear safety, radiation safety, radioactive waste and transport safety, and the security of radioactive sources, while recognizing the ultimate responsibility of each Member State to ensure safety in these areas. Through peer exchange on technical and policy issues, opportunities for improvement are explored and potential improvement strategies are identified which may be shared with other States, since they gives insight into the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal and governmental framework and regulatory infrastructure for safety.

Ahmad al Khatibeh explained that the visit of IRRS mission in a period of two weeks ahead is to analyze and identify all things associated with the use of nuclear power in Indonesia. And eventually later in the report will give various recommendations and suggestions in accordance with international standards.

Carl-Magnus Larsson added, there are 11 modules that will be used as guidelines for identification: Government, global nuclear safety regime, the Regulator, management system, authorization, review and assessment, inspection, enforcement, regulations and guides (Sources, fuel cycle facilities, waste facilities, decomissioning, research reactors), emergency and preparedness, thematic areas such as control of medical, occupational and public exposure, transport.
