To strengthen synergy, align perspectives, and reinforce the shared commitment among stakeholders, including the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), the Ministry of Health, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and producers of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals, regarding the implementation of radiation safety and quality control during production, BAPETEN’s Directorate of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Sources (DPFRZR) organized a hybrid coordination meeting (in-person and online) at the BAPETEN Auditorium on December 18, 2025. Representatives from various healthcare facilities attended the event.

Zainal Arifin, the Acting Chairman of BAPETEN, opened the event. In his opening remarks, he stated, "The goal of this coordination meeting is to foster a more comprehensive understanding and generate practical recommendations while strengthening our collective commitment to ensuring the safe, high-quality, and sustainable use of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals in Indonesian healthcare services."

The event proceeded with several presentations: "Challenges in Nuclear Energy Oversight for Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical Production" by BAPETEN Radiation Inspector Heri Irawan; "Ministry of Health Strategic Plan and Policies on the Production, Distribution, and Safety of Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals to Meet National Needs" by Muhammad Zulfikar Biruni from the Directorate of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Resilience; "F-18 Nuclear Medicine Services at the National Cancer Center" by Dr. Yustia Tuti; a "Sharing Session" by Yoppy Hadi Soeyanto, Head of Oncology Total Solutions at PT Kalbe Farma; and "Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical Production Facilities" by Anak Agung Made Amrita Adihutama. The coordination meeting was attended by representatives from all hospitals equipped with cyclotron facilities for radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production, applicants for licenses in the radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production industry, and relevant units within BAPETEN.

During the discussion and Q&A session, participants raised various questions regarding training for radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical production, including topics such as nuclear medicine certification and the availability of nuclear medicine training vendors collaborating with BAPETEN.

The meeting was concluded by the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment, Haendra Subekti, who stated in his closing remarks, "This coordination meeting certainly serves a noble purpose: to continuously improve services for the public." (BHKK/CD/CN/Translator: GP)
