BAPETEN Holds a Television Talk Show in the Context of Socializing the Supervision of the Utilization of Nuclear Energy
Kembali 23 Agustus 2022 | Berita BAPETENIn order to welcome the upcoming 2022 G20 Summit, the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) this time brought a series of Nuclear Safety Seminars (SKN) 2022 to Bali. In addition to SKN, BAPETEN also held a series of talk shows on local television stations iNews Bali and TVRI Bali on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
Based on Law no. 10 of 1997 concerning Nuclear Energy, BAPETEN has mandated to supervise the use of nuclear energy in Indonesia. In an effort to carry out this role, BAPETEN raised two talkshow themes to educate the public about monitoring the use of nuclear energy.
The iNews Bali talk show raised the theme of Nuclear Monitoring and Utilization in Indonesia which was aired in the “Dialog Khusus” segment hosted by Putri Cahaya with guest speaker Abdul Qohar Teguh Eko Prasetyo as the Public Communication Coordinator of BAPETEN.Abdul Qohhar stated "Supervision of the utilization of nuclear power by BAPETEN plays a role in ensuring the safety of workers, the community and the environment from radiation hazards. Nuclear utilization itself is also actually a lot in various fields such as agriculture, industry, and health."
The second talk show was conducted at TVRI Bali television station with the theme of Monitoring and Management of Radioactive Waste in Indonesia for the Young Generation with the speakers, Head of Bureau of Legal affairs, Cooperation, and Public Communication of BAPETEN Indra Gunawan and Head of the Centre for Regulatory Assesment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials BAPETEN Taruyani Handayani. In her state, Taruniyani said "Similar to nuclear utilization, radioactive waste processing must have a license from BAPETEN in accordance with the legislation because waste processing also has an impact on the security and safety of the community, workers and the environment."
In addition to questions and answers with the host, the public can also interact via telephone to ask questions to the speakers It is hoped that this event can increase the role of the community in monitoring the use of nuclear energy. (BHKK/DA/CD)
