Haendra Subekti, Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Assessment and Safety, accompanied by the Acting Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection Lukman Hakim and BAPETEN’s Emergency Response Unit (Satuan Tanggap Darurat, or STD) team, collaborated with the Ministry of Environment (KLH/BPLH), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) unit. Together, they carried out the handling and removal of radioactive sources at several locations within the Modern Cikande Industrial Estate (KIM Cikande) in Serang Regency, Banten, on September 23, 2025.

The operation began with the handling and removal of radioactive materials located at a scrap metal collection site and at PT PMT, followed by inspections and securing of other sites outside KIM Cikande.

Prior to this, government agencies, specifically BAPETEN, KLH/BPLH, and BRIN, had coordinated on the handling of contaminated materials. This was followed by a collaborative effort with the Brimob CBRN unit to remove radioactive sources from various locations within KIM Cikande, ensuring that the handling and removal operations were targeted effectively while guaranteeing the safety of response personnel and the public, as well as environmental protection.
