BAPETEN Collaborates with AFISMI to Hold Si-INTAN Workshops in Three Cities to Enhance Patient Radiation Safety
Kembali 28 November 2025 | Berita BAPETEN | 16 lihatThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Medical Physicists (AFISMI), organized a workshop on auditing and reporting patient dose data through the Patient Dose Data Information System (Si-INTAN) in three different cities across Indonesia. This synergistic program serves as an important foundation for strengthening the implementation of Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs) in various regions of the country.
This collaborative workshop was held in Banjarmasin on 22 November 2025, Palembang on 25 November 2025, and Medan on 28 November 2025. The event was attended by healthcare professionals, particularly medical physicists and radiographers, from 12 provinces across Indonesia.
In his opening remarks, AFISMI Chairperson Lukmanda Evan Lubis emphasized the significance of this activity. "This workshop is highly valuable for enhancing the competence of medical physicists. It is not merely about entering data into Si-INTAN; follow-up dose evaluation must also be a key aspect of concern. We expect participants will become more confident in dose reporting and evaluation, making it a routine practice to ensure patient safety," said Lukmanda.
In line with this, BAPETEN, represented by Endang Kunarsih as Head of the Working Group for Strengthening the Implementation of Indonesia’s DRLs, stated that this workshop is expected to serve as a milestone for change and a driving force to strengthen the role of medical physicists in dose audits in diagnostic and interventional radiology.
Meanwhile, Rusmanto, coordinator of the Health Assessment Functional Group, stated that this program was not merely a ceremonial event. According to him, it represents a concrete manifestation of the shared commitment to implementing radiation safety standards.
Positive appreciation also came from the heads of AFISMI Regional Chapters (DPW) in various regions, who expressed their hope that cooperation, collaboration, and professional networking between BAPETEN and AFISMI will continue to be strengthened through future competency development programs.
The workshop was led by expert speakers from BAPETEN and AFISMI and was further supported by local facilitators during the hands-on session on dose reporting using the Si-INTAN system. These local facilitators were DRL Agents in the respective regions who had previously completed the Training of DRL Mentors at BAPETEN on 24 November 2025. The practical sessions were also directly monitored and guided by the BAPETEN Si-INTAN team.
The materials presented in this workshop were comprehensive, covering Radiation Safety Regulations in diagnostic and interventional radiology, delivered by Endang Kunarsih and Rusmanto: Patient Dosimetry in Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine, presented by M. Ruslan A. Gani and Pandji Triadyaksa: and the Implementation of Dose Audits and Optimization of Patient Radiation Protection delivered by Hanendya Disha Randy Raharja and Josepa ND Simanjuntak.
The high level of enthusiasm and active participation of attendees in all three cities served as a clear indicator of the strong need for further capacity building in this field. In closing, participants collectively expressed their hope that BAPETEN will more frequently conduct outreach in regional areas to provide guidance, particularly on accurate dose data reporting into the Si-INTAN system and on accelerating the implementation of Indonesia’s DRLs as a concrete effort to optimize patient doses at the national level.
