The event began with the reading of a press release titled "Measures by the Cs-137 Handling Task Force and Business Associations to Secure Indonesian Shrimp and Clove Exports to the US Market," delivered by Bara Krishna Hasibuan. In the press release, Bara outlined three key areas: an update on the handling of Cs-137 contamination and the food safety of export products; the United States market; and the joint measures taken by the government and industry to respond to the Import Alert issued by the US FDA.

In his explanation, Bara stated, "The detected Cs-137 contamination originated from metal industry activities in the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate, Banten, and was localized solely to that area. The government is taking the impact of Cs-137 contamination very seriously through measures such as restricting and isolating the Cikande industrial area, decontamination efforts, and addressing the health needs of workers and the local community."

"The US FDA appreciates Indonesia's seriousness and swift action in addressing the impact of Cs-137. The US market remains open to Indonesian shrimp and cloves. Exports may continue, provided they meet the requirements established by US authorities," he added.

Following the reading of the first press release, Bara proceeded to the second press release, which addressed the government's assurance regarding the safety of clove products and the swift actions taken in response to the detection of Cs-137 radionuclide contamination in Lampung. In the press release, Bara explained, "The contamination was found in limited quantities and did not spread to other regions or commodities. As a precautionary measure, BAPETEN recommends that the clove products showing signs of contamination not be traded for now, pending the results of further laboratory testing. The team is still tracing the source of the Cs-137 contamination."

Following the reading of the two press releases, the event proceeded to a Q&A session with the attending media. During this session, BAPETEN’s Deputy for Nuclear Safety, Haendra Subekti, addressed a question regarding whether the discovered scrap metal was the source of the radioactivity that caused the contamination. Haendra clarified that the scrap metal already contained Cs-137 before being sent for smelting; the contamination was not generated by the smelting process itself.
