BAPETEN conducted a Socialization of the Impacts and Benefits of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) for the people of Batu Beriga Village and Fishermen in Lubuk Besar Sub-district, Central Bangka, on Friday, May 31, 2024. This socialization was carried out as a follow-up to the Batu Beriga Village Head’s request to provide an explanation to the community regarding PT ThorCon Power Indonesian’s planned construction of an NPP on Gelasa Island.

The event was opened by Central Bangka Regency Economic and Development Assistant Wahyu Nurrakhman who said that Central Bangka Regency is very open to development, especially those that have a positive impact on the community. “ Therefore, the presence of representatives of BAPETEN, Gadjah Mada University, and Bangka Belitung University here hopefully can provide us with a detailed understanding of what an NPP is,” he said.
