The workshop, which was scheduled to last for five days, was attended by 26 participants from several ministries and institutions, such as BRIN, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Pertamina Hulu, other relevant stakeholders, and BAPETEN itself. BAPETEN was represented by the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment (PKN) Haendra Subekti, Head of the Education and Training Division Ahmad Ciptadi Syuryavin, and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Delegates Horst Monken Fernandes and Zhiwen Fan, Representatives of the Portuguese Environmental Agency Margarida Malta, and Malaysia Nuclear Energy Mohammad Abdul Wahab Bin Yusof, who attended the workshop.

Through his remarks, Haendra said that this workshop is the 4th international activity in 2024; therefore, high appreciation is conveyed to the IAEA for its support for BAPETEN in carrying out its duties and functions so far.

Haendra further said, "The momentum for implementing this workshop is very appropriate because BAPETEN is currently drafting regulations related to NORM management and uranium/thorium mining. In this workshop, we can get a lot of discussion and experience from experts on NORM management, especially related to the obstacles and challenges that occur in Indonesia."

Haendra also expected that by holding this workshop, collaboration and coordination can be built between stakeholders related to NORM management in order to prepare a NORM management mechanism and take further steps in drafting related regulations.
