The activity was opened by Ishak, Head of the Bureau of Legal Affairs, Cooperation, and Public Communication of BAPETEN, who emphasized the importance of this activity in discussing the use of nuclear energy in Indonesia, particularly its utilization in the health sector in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. "We invite you to participate in the supervision. Because, in fact, when talking about supervision, it's not just the role of institutions but all parties, all stakeholders. Ladies and gentlemen, you also have an important role in supervision, because what we supervise is in the context of ensuring safety, security, and how we can protect the environment," explained Ishak.

Furthermore, Sjafruddin, a member of Commission XII of the DPR RI, also expressed his expectation for the outcome of this activity. He revealed that nuclear power is often viewed solely as a means of generating electricity or weapons, rather than for its uses in health and industry. "Young people must not be left without a proper understanding of nuclear power. It is important for us to continue expanding our understanding and insight into nuclear energy, because this is a challenge we must face in the future," Sjafruddin emphasized to the participants, who came from various segments of society, the majority of whom were students.

The event then continued with a presentation by Khairunnisa, a lecturer/academic community leader, who spoke about the use of nuclear energy in everyday life. This was followed by a presentation by Abdul Qohhar, the lead of the public communication function group at BAPETEN, on the supervision of nuclear energy utilization in Indonesia. In his presentation, Abdul Qohhar explained the general definition of nuclear radiation, BAPETEN's role in overseeing nuclear energy utilization, and the benefits and risks of nuclear energy. He also encouraged the public to participate in participatory oversight. "Public participation in monitoring includes inquiring about permits and safety status labels, or reporting to BAPETEN if they discover any nuclear power facilities that do not have BAPETEN permits," said Qohhar.
