This activity follows findings by the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI), which identified 196 units of DJBC-owned baggage scanning equipment that lacked the necessary utilization licenses from BAPETEN. These units are distributed across various DJBC operational areas throughout Indonesia and are utilized as part of efforts to monitor the movement of goods and prevent the entry of prohibited items or smuggling.

As the agency responsible for overseeing all nuclear energy utilization in Indonesia, mandated by Law Number 10 of 1997, BAPETEN is tasked with ensuring that every instance of ionizing radiation source usage obtains an official license. Meanwhile, DJBC, acting as the frontline for monitoring the flow of goods into and out of Indonesia, utilizes ionizing radiation-based baggage and cargo scanning equipment to safeguard national security and sovereignty.

This licensing acceleration initiative took place at the Medan Customs and Finance Education Center. During the event, BAPETEN not only processed licenses on-site but also provided technical guidance to DJBC personnel regarding document preparation and compliance with other licensing requirements. Training materials focused specifically on licensing the use of nuclear technology for DJBC's baggage scanning equipment, thereby ensuring the acceleration process was both effective and relevant.
