The background of holding this workshop is that many Non-Reactor Nuclear Installations (INNR) have been aging. Then the mandate of Law No.10 of 1997 and PP No.2 of 2014 which states that the obligation of permit holders to decommissioning after the permit to operate nuclear installations has been completed, one of the contents of the decommissioning program is the characterization survey plan.

The event began with a report by the Head of BDL Ahmad Ciptadi Syuryavin who said that with this workshop, it is hoped that it can become a joint media to share and exchange information about the characterization survey. "It is very important for you as permit holders and we as supervisors to share with each other so that they can conduct a characterization survey properly in the future," he added.

The workshop was opened by Director of Licensing of Nuclear Installations and Materials Budi Rohman who said decommissioning is one of the conditions for nuclear installation permits. "It should be noted that the decommissioning of a nuclear plant will produce radioactive waste, so it must be prepared to be prepared for handling the waste," he said.

This workshop presented speakers from BAPETEN and the National Innovation and Research Agency (BRIN) to provide theoretical and practical presentations on characterization surveys.

The entire series of workshops is carried out using a blended learning method, namely participants conduct independent learning through the BAPETEN Learning Management System (LMS), then online on 15-16 August 2022, and continued with classical at the BAPETEN Building for practicum on 18-19 August 2022.
