Workshop on Human Resource Planning for the Regulatory Body Regarding Regulatory Oversight of Nuclear Power Plants and Small Modular Reactors
Kembali 02 September 2024 | Berita BAPETENThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held a workshop on Human Resource Planning for the Regulatory Body Regarding Regulatory Oversight of Nuclear Power Plants and Small Modular Reactors in Jakarta on September 2, 2024. The activity, which will be held until September 6, 2024, aims to discuss human resource planning to ensure skilled staff capable of overseeing nuclear safety and compliance with regulations based on IAEA standards.
The event began with a report from the Head of the BAPETEN Education and Training Division (BDL), Ahmad Ciptadi Syuryavin, who said that this activity was carried out to prepare BAPETEN's human resources in welcoming the planned construction of a nuclear power plant. "Human resources are very important in ensuring the safety and security of nuclear power plants in Indonesia," he added.
BAPETEN Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment Haendra Subekti, when opening the event, said that in order to support the government's Net Zero Emission (NZE) commitment by 2060, human resources in supporting the energy transition must be considered. He added that the target for the first commercial nuclear power plant in Indonesia is in 2032.
This activity was held offline face-to-face and was attended by 20 internal BAPETEN participants and three participants from external BAPETEN, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PLN. Three IAEA experts were present in this workshop, namely Muhammad Ayub, Marcin Dabrowski, and Mehmet Kemal Oztas.
Muhammad Ayub said that in this workshop he would present about the Safety Standard and Security Standard in supervising nuclear power plants. "In addition, there will be a presentation on the Future Nuclear Program in this workshop," he said.
It is hoped that this activity can increase knowledge about planning and developing human resources in Indonesia in terms of supervising future nuclear power plants. [BHKK/Da/Translator: GP]
