Verification of Radiotherapy License at Regional General Hospital Dr. Moewardi Solo

BAPETEN verified the application for onsite Radiotherapy Operation permit at Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Moewardi Solo - Central Java, on April 8-9, 2021. After online administrative verification on April 5-6 2021, the BAPETEN inspection team, led by the Director of Licensing for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Sources Ishak, carried out onsite verification. The inspection team verified the Co-60 Teletherapy Aircraft of NPIC brand which underwent a replacement of the Co-60 radioactive source, came from the Research Institute of Nuclear Reactor – RIAR JSC of the Russian Federation.

This verification activity is a requirement for issuing permits and ensures that the equipment, facilities, human resources, and SOPs have fulfil the requirements for radiation safety and radiation source security, as well as ensuring the protection of workers, patients, community, and environment. The scope of this inspection consists of technical inspections, such as design plans, protection equipment, safety of radioactive sources, measurement of gamma radiation exposure, mechanical system tests, safety system tests, commissioning tests, measurements of dosimetry system, and performance simulations.

This activity still implemented strict health protocols. Before that, the BAPETEN inspection team conducted rapid antigen tests, before and after the activity, and also used standard personal protective equipment (PPE) for handling Covid-19 while in the field. [DPFRZR/DwiAng/BHKK/IP/RA]
