US DOE and PNNL Team Accompaniment to Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, and Sanglah Hospital Denpasar

The arrival of the United States Department of Energy (US DOE) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) team from the United States to monitor the condition of security equipment at facilities that utilize very high-risk radioactive materials took place on April 24-26, 2024.

The US DOE and PNNL teams were represented by Cassandra Peterson from US DOE with Jake C. Burns and Jake Atwell from PNNL. During the visit to the blood irradiator facility owned by Dharmais Cancer Hospital and the gamma knife facility owned by RSUPN dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, they were accompanied by the Inspector of the Directorate of Inspection of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DIFRZR) BAPETEN Dwi Cahyadi and Widiyastuti.

The agreement of the President Director of the Hospital, Dharmais Cancer R. Soeko Werdi Nindito, with US DOE-PNNL will soon be assessed to replace the blood irradiator technology using ionizing radiation, which initially used radioactive substances.

Meanwhile, the agreement with the Director of Operations of the National Central Public Hospital (RSUPN), Cipto Mangunkusumo Sumariyono, regarding the extension of the maintenance period for security equipment at the Gamma Knife facility until 2028.

The day after, US DOE and PNNL left for Bali to visit RSUP Prof. IGNG. Ngoerah in Denpasar, Bali, carried out on April 26, 2024, which was accompanied by the Director of DIFRZR BAPETEN Asep Saefulloh Hermawan and Roy Candra Primarsa with the same mission. [DIFRZR/ DwiCahyadi/BHKK/SP/GP]
