The Verification of Nuclear Medicine Permit at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo and MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi
Kembali 06 Juni 2024 | Berita BAPETENThe Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials, conducted a series of nuclear medicine permit verification activities at National Central General Hospital (RSUPN) Dr. Cipto Mangunkusomo on June 5, 2024, and MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi on June 6, 2024, in Jakarta. This verification activity aims to ensure that the application for an operating permit for in-vivo diagnostic medicine activities is declared safe for the safety of workers, patients, the community, and the environment. The Verification Team ensures that the design that is built meets safety standards through calculations of the design of radiation-resistant buildings and ensures that the procedures and human resources for these activities meet the requirements for radiation safety and the safety of radioactive sources.
The Inspection Team led by the Coordinator of the Health Facility Licensing Function Group-BAPETEN, Iin Indartati, with team members namely Wahyu Ramdhan, Sulistiyoningsih, and Lilis Misnawati, conducted verification at the Radiodiagnostic Installation Facility of Dr. Cipto Mangunkusomo National Hospital for the Operational Permit for In Vivo Diagnostic Medical Facilities with a Siemens PET Aircraft type Biograph Vision 450 for F-18 radionuclides, which is a follow-up verification in April 2024 so that it is specifically for examining radiation exposure at the Nuclear Medicine Facility and the completeness of equipment in the Hotlab room.
Furthermore, this series of activities continued the next day with Verification at the Nuclear Medicine Facility MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi with the Team Leader by the Coordinator of the Health Facility Licensing Function Group-BAPETEN, Iin Indartati with team members namely Ahmad Maulana, Toni Wahyu Pamungkas, and Dwi Cahyadi for the Operation Permit for In Vivo Diagnostic Medical Facilities with GE brand, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Machine type Discovery IQ for F-18 radionuclides.
The scope of the onsite inspection includes checking technical documents related to the suitability of the as-built facility design, the availability of utility rooms for nuclear medicine services, the adequacy of the thickness of the radiation barrier in the room, procedures for procurement and provision of radiopharmaceuticals for therapy, contamination procedures, radioisotope storage procedures, procedures for the management of radioactive substances, patient flow procedures, and radioactive waste management.
In the exit meeting with the management, the hospital committed to following up and completing the findings submitted by the BAPETEN team within a certain period of time. The succeeding verification activities were supported by the hospital, which followed and welcomed the activities until the end; any deficiencies were considered as input and technical suggestions for fulfilling radiation safety in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and radiation safety standards.
With the addition of new PET CT equipment, MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi hopes that cancer services can realize their commitment to increasing awareness and encouraging cancer prevention and treatment in Indonesia. As this is in line with what was conveyed at the inauguration ceremony at MRCCC Siloam Hospital Semanggi in February 2024, "We continue to develop with the hope that people who need cancer screening or treatment no longer need to go abroad. So, it can be a one-stop service; no need to move around," said MRCCC Director, Dr. Adityawati Ganggaiswari, at the inauguration ceremony at MRCCC Siloam Hospital Semanggi on Friday (23/2/2024).
