"A great nation is a nation that honors the services of its heroes." This spirit resonated at BAPETEN as all employees gathered to participate in the 2025 Heroes Day Flag Ceremony. The ceremony was held solemnly at the BAPETEN Office courtyard in Jakarta on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The ceremony attended by all BAPETEN employees, carried the theme "My Hero, My Role Model Keep Moving Forward to Continue the Struggle." This theme emphasizes that the spirit of heroism does not remain in the past but must continue to live through the actions and tangible contributions of the current generation in nation building.
In his speech delivered by the Acting Chairman of BAPETEN, Zainal Arifin, serving as the ceremony’s officiant, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf conveyed a profound message. "Our heroes teach us that independence does not fall from the sky. Independence is born from patience, courage, honesty, togetherness, and sincerity." he stated.
"He emphasized that the heroes were patient in acquiring knowledge, formulating strategies, waiting for the right moment, and fostering togetherness despite limitations. After independence was achieved, the heroes did not compete for positions, nor did they demand rewards. Instead, they returned to the people, teaching, building, planting, and continuing their service. True honor lies not in the positions held, but in the benefits left behind," he added.
The address concluded with a call that the heroes struggle was for future generations and is part of worship. "To give up means to abandon the mandate of humanity."
The ceremony ended with the BAPETEN Choir performing the struggle songs "Gugur Bunga" and "Mars BAPETEN" followed by a collective prayer as an expression of gratitude and reflection on the sacrifices of the heroes.
Through the Heroes Day momentum, BAPETEN hopes that the values of struggle, discipline, and dedication will continue to grow within every employee. In this way, the spirit of heroism is not only remembered but also realized in tangible actions for the nation and the country. [BHKK/SP]
