The event was opened by the Head of Centre for Regulatory Assesment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (P2STPFRZR) BAPETEN Taruniyati Handayani, in her opening remarks said "this technical guidance is intended to convey a mechanism related to submitting requests for justification by parties who have the potential to submit applications. In BAPETEN Regulation No. 5 of 2020, it is stated that there is a process for submitting justification by the justification applicant. In the context of implementing justification requests, BAPETEN has provided an application system called JUKI which is an acronym for Radiation Justification.

"To make it easier for applicants to apply for justification, we have provided an application called Radiation Justification or abbreviated JUKI. This application is a tool for justification applicants to submit requests for justification that comply with regulatory requirements. In addition, the applicant can also monitor the process or status of the application until a justification decision is obtained. It is hoped that the use of the JUKI application will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the justification application process until a justification decision is issued," he explained.

The technical guidance which was attended by 204 participants who were representatives of the permit holders, was followed by a presentation on "Justification for the Utilization of Ionizing Radiation" by the Head of P2STPFRZR BAPETEN Taruniyati Handayani, and about "The Process for Requesting Justification and Use of the JUKI Application" by BAPETEN's First Radiation Supervisor Ida Bagus Gede Putra Primary.

In the closing ceremony, the Head of P2STPFRZR BAPETEN Taruniyati Handayani said "the expected output with this justification process is that the use of ionizing radiation sources can provide far greater benefits than the risks that may arise." [P2STPFRZR/IBGP Pratama/BHKK/SP]
