Ardi Nugroho, Vice President of Technology Development at PT PLN Nusantara Power, stated that the Government, through a decision of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), has set the Commercial Operation Date (COD) target for Indonesia’s first nuclear power plant in 2032, which is planned to be located in Bangka, Sumatra, Indonesia. In response to this target, PT PLN Nusantara Power has taken proactive steps in planning for the nuclear power plant development. He further conveyed that obtaining site approval for the nuclear power plant requires the preparation of the Site Evaluation Program (PET) and Site Evaluation Management System (SMET) in accordance with applicable regulations and technical requirements. Therefore, in-depth learning and understanding are necessary. As nuclear power plants remain relatively new within PT PLN Nusantara Power, capacity building and comprehensive understanding among all involved parties are essential.
