Public Consultation on BAPETEN's Draft Regulation on Radiation Safety in the Use of Baggage Scanning Equipment
Kembali 09 Desember 2024 | Berita BAPETEN | 15 lihatBAPETEN's Directorate of Regulation of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DP2FRZR) held a Public Consultation on the preparation of BAPETEN's Draft Regulation on Radiation Safety in the Use of Baggage Scanner Equipment on December 9, 2024, in a hybrid format at the BAPETEN Office, Jakarta. This activity was held to gather input from various stakeholders and related agencies, especially those who use baggage scanning equipment, to ensure that the formation of regulations can accommodate various perspectives and needs. In this activity, there were 65 participants offline and 85 participants online.
The activity began with an implementation preparation report by Soegeng Rahady, who said that this activity aims to capture aspirations so that policies can be compiled comprehensively following current needs. The next event was remarks and an opening by DP2FRZR Director Mukhlisin. In his remarks, Mukhlisin said that along with technological advances and increased security needs, the use of baggage scanning equipment has become an important element, especially in the air transportation sector, prisons, ports, hotels, and other strategic locations. "We realize the importance of your involvement as stakeholders. This public consultation is a form of BAPETEN's commitment to ensure transparency and receive constructive input from all parties," concluded Mukhlisin.
Next, there was a presentation and a question-and-answer session moderated by Aris Sanyoto. The first presentation was about the Regulatory Direction of Government Regulation No. 45 of 2023 by Soegeng Rahady. The next presentation was the Regulatory Direction of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency Draft Regulation on Radiation Safety in the Use of Baggage Scanner Equipment by Dwihardjo Rushartono, followed by the third presentation on the Implementation of the Use of Baggage Scanner Equipment in Correctional Institutions (Lapas) and input to the BAPETEN Draft Regulation on Radiation Safety in the Use of Baggage Scanner Equipment by Aris Triyanto from the Person in Charge of the Security and Rescue Division of RUPBASAN (State Confiscated Object Storage House), Ministry of Immigration and Correction of the Republic of Indonesia.
The discussion and question, and answer session related to issues regarding the accommodation of the Radiation Protection Worker requirements, which are now facilitated, the requirements for the process of fulfilling baggage scanner equipment licenses, especially for airports, and input from participants for simplifying the process of applying for a baggage scanner import license.
At the end of the activity, Mukhlisin expressed his appreciation for the participation of all participants, both offline and online. In this public consultation, input was obtained that enriched the substance of the regulation and strengthened the joint commitment to maintaining radiation safety in Indonesia.
