Nuclear Products Exhibition and Nuclear Safety Seminar 2023
Kembali 11 September 2023 | Berita BAPETENTo support the spirit of the 2023 ASEAN Summit and the 2023 Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence, BAPETEN in collaboration with Udayana University held the 2023 Nuclear Safety Seminar (SKN), at Udayana University, Jimbaran Campus, Bali and also aired virtually, on 12 September 2023.
The event began with a report by the Chairman of the SKN Committee chaired by the Head of Centre for Regulatory Assessment of Nuclear Installation and Materials (P2STPIBN) BAPETEN Judi Pramono, who reported "The SKN event was attended by 455 participants. In addition to holding SKN, BAPETEN also collaborates with FMIPA Udayana University and the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN-P) Bali, in the Nuclear Product Exhibition, on 11-12 September 2023."
The event was opened by Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN Sugeng Sumbarjo, in his opening remarks conveyed "The theme of SKN 2023 this time, is "Increasing Safety and Security of Nuclear Installations and Ionizing Radiation Sources to Support the Competitiveness of Nuclear Products and Improve Community Welfare." This theme is expected to strengthen, grow, and increase awareness and concern for the safety of workers, society and the environment in line with the increasing use of nuclear energy and the manufacture of nuclear products and their components in the country."
“The goals and expectations of SKN 2023 and the Nuclear Product Exhibition include:
a. Exchange of information, knowledge, opinions and experience on current issues in the field of nuclear safety regulation and technology,
b. Increase understanding and awareness of the importance of monitoring the use of nuclear energy,
c. Further review and develop an effective and efficient nuclear energy monitoring system,
d. Become a forum for the exchange of information, experience and continuous coordination between supervisory components, academics, professional associations, nuclear energy observers, industry and other stakeholders,
e. Provide recommendations for the advancement of supervision of the use of nuclear energy, and
f. It is the first step in fostering the development of TKDN to increase the competitiveness of nuclear products and components of national nuclear products." He said.
By sounding the Gong, by Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN accompanied by the Vice Rector of Udayana University, the Deputy Chairman of Licensing and Inspection of BAPETEN, Plh. Deputy Chairman of BAPETEN Nuclear Safety Assessment and the Chairman of the SKN Committee, the SKN event has officially opened.
The speech was continued by the Rector of Udayana University, who on this occasion was represented by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information I Putu Gede Adiatmika, who said "Udayana University considers it important to collaborate with BAPETEN, considering that one of the Study Programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, namely the Physics Study Program, has the potential to increase cooperation with BAPETEN along with the opening of the Medical Physics Concentration."
"This Medical Physics concentration has competence in nuclear energy, especially in nuclear utilization in the medical field, such as radiodiagnostic modalities (X-rays, CT-Scans, Fluoroscopy, mammography etc.), Radiotherapy (Teletherapy Cobal, LINAC, Brakhytherapy etc.) and Nuclear Medicine (PET, SPECT, Radiopharmaceuticals etc.). This modality has been found in almost all government hospitals and private hospitals in Bali. Thus, a medical physicist is needed in the hospital to ensure safety and security against this nuclear radiation." Details.
"It is hoped that with the cooperation of the Parties, the development of Medical Physics and fields of science related to nuclear energy can run as the objectives of the cooperation stipulated in the MoU." Added.
On that occasion, Member of the National Energy Council represented by As Natio Lasman also welcomed the SKN 2023 event. In his speech, he said, "The Indonesian nation, of course, cannot turn a blind eye to the progress of nuclear technology. Moreover, the will to develop such energy has been proclaimed since the late 50s. Even more emphatically, this commitment has also been stated by the existence of 3 research reactors that have been operated for a long time."
Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN together with Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information continued with the tape cutting as the opening of the Nuclear Product Exhibition. The exhibition was attended by BPFK, Gegana Korps Brimob POLRI and BNN-P Bali.
