The hearing activity which was opened by the Vice Chairman of Commission XII, Putri Zulkifli Hasan as the leader of the hearing in her speech conveyed the importance of BAPETEN's role in ensuring the utilization of nuclear technology in Indonesia is safe and does not cause harm to the community and the environment and in accordance with international standards, especially in the aspects of safety and security.

Furthermore, the presentation was delivered by Plt. Head of BAPETEN, Sugeng Sumbarjo, who explained about the introduction of BAPETEN's main tasks, functions and policy directions, progress and evaluation of program implementation until the third quarter of 2024 to the 2025 strategic program including the Draft Strategic Plan 2025-2029, priority programs, to budget allocations and strategic outputs for 2025. Sugeng Sumbarjo on the occasion was accompanied by Deputy for Licensing and Inspection Zainal Arifin, Deputy for Nuclear Safety Assessment Haendra Subekti, and all Echelon II Officials of BAPETEN.

This hearing resulted in the conclusions of Commission XII DPR RI, including the support of Commission XII DPR RI for an increase in BAPETEN's budget allocation for the function of supervising the utilization of nuclear technology and nuclear innovation research in Indonesia. In addition, Commission XII DPR RI also asked the Head of BAPETEN to increase the supervision of socialization of nuclear power utilization to the community in the regions, submit study data related to the feasibility of implementing Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN) in Indonesia, and submit written answers to questions from members of Commission XII DPR RI.
