The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Regulation of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DP2FRZR), again held an activity of Guidance on Legislation of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials for stakeholders on November 19, 2024, at the BAPETEN Building, Jakarta. The director of DP2FRZR, Mukhlisin, in his opening remarks, said, "This activity aims to strengthen our commitment to maintaining the safety and health of workers who are exposed to radiation every day. As part of our responsibility to protect them, the implementation of optimization of work exposure is a very crucial step. With the right dose limiter, we can manage the risk of radiation exposure more effectively, as well as reduce the potential for adverse impacts on workers' health."

The activity was then continued with the presentation of materials, including materials on Government Regulation Number 45 of 2023 on Ionizing Radiation Safety and Radioactive Materials Safety by the Activity Manager of the Radiation Protection and Environmental Safety Function Group, Aris Sanyoto, followed by a presentation related to the Implementation of Work Exposure Optimization through Dose Limiters by the Main/Middle Expert Radiation Supervisor of the Centre for the Regulatory Assessment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (P2STPFRZR), Endang Kunarsih. Then continued with the presentation of materials from Dr. Benny Zulkarnaien, Sp.Rad., R.N.P.M.(K), as a practitioner and doctor of the Department of Radiology at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM), who delivered material related to the implementation of dose limiters in health service facilities: best practice/experience at RSCM.

The activity was continued with a discussion and question-and-answer session with three speakers moderated by Soegeng Rahady. In the discussion session, the enthusiasm of the participants was seen to provide questions, responses, and input on the implementation of work exposure optimization through dose limits. Several discussion points included topics on justification for radiology examinations outside the radiology room, mobile x-rays, difficulties for radiology specialists in certain areas, provision of prosthetic devices and active dosimeters, and other related topics.

After the discussion and question-and-answer session, the activity was closed by the Director of DP2FRZR, Mukhlisin. "It is hoped that the participants can apply this learning and the safety guidelines in the field. BAPETEN will continue to support and monitor the implementation of radiation safety regulations and make continuous improvements in coaching so that national radiation safety goals can be achieved," concluded Mukhlisin.
