Exploring the Appointment of Candidates for Nuclear Energy Training Institutions at the Faculty of Health, University of Kader Bangsa – Palembang, South Sumatra

BAPETEN through the Quality Assurance Function Group of the Directorate of Technical Support and Nuclear Emergency Preparedness (DKKN), is exploring the potential appointment of new training institutions within the scope of PPR MEDIK in the development activities of the Nuclear Energy Training Institute. The exploration was carried out on 1-2 December 2022 for the X-ray Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Health, Kader Bangsa University Palembang, South Sumatra.

Currently, the availability of Nuclear Energy Training Institutes throughout Indonesia amounts to 12 training institutions both from educational, private and government institutions spread across Central Java, East Java, Bali, Makassar, Batam, Depok and DKI Jakarta. Especially for the Palembang region, South Sumatra, there is no Training Institute with the scope of PPR Medik. For this reason, BAPETEN tried to explore the Kader Bangsa University Palembang which is considered to have the potential to become a nuclear energy training institution within the scope of PPR Medik.

imgkontenimgkontenThe BAPETEN team who visited Kader Bangsa University Palembang was led by Director of DKKN Zulkarnain and accompanied by Quality Assurance Function Group Coordinator Rini Suryanti and the staff. On the first day, the presence of the BAPETEN team was welcomed by the management of Kader Bangsa University Palembang consisting of the Dean of the Faculty of Health, the Head of the X-ray Engineering Study Program and the entire management. Dean of the Faculty of Health, Riki, conveyed positive aspirations with the arrival of a team from Bapeten regarding exploring activities for prospective Nuclear Energy Training Institutes. In addition, he conveyed the history of the establishment of the university and its study programs, the vision and mission of the faculty, the values adopted by the faculty, organizational structure and qualifications of faculty human resources. Furthermore, the Head of the X-ray Engineering Study Program, Muslimah in her presentation explained the qualifications of human resources, the organizational structure of the foundation, the facilities and infrastructure owned by the X-ray study program laboratory and quality assurance including radiation protection equipment and dosimetry available.

On the 2nd day, the activity continued with a meeting and discussion between Kader Bangsa University Palembang and the KFJM-DKKN team, attended by representatives from the Regional Board of the Indonesian Radiographers Association (PARI) South Sumatra. Zulkarnain gave direction regarding BAPETEN's support for institutions that have the potential to be appointed as Nuclear Energy Training Institutions in order to meet the needs of people throughout Indonesia for nuclear energy training institutions and improve the quality of human resources in order to improve the quality of nuclear energy supervision.

imgkontenimgkontenThen the delivery of material delivered by the Coordinator of the Quality Assurance Function Group, Rini Suryanti with the theme "Provisions and Mechanisms of Nuclear Energy Training Institutions" which explained the legal basis, requirements, support systems and mechanisms to become a Nuclear Energy Training Institute. The event continued with a discussion session on the requirements and process of applying as a Nuclear Energy Training Institute as well as the implementation of Risk-based business licensing to the management of Kader Bangsa University Palembang.

Visits were also made to classroom facilities, laboratories for the use of ionizing radiation sources, monitoring equipment utilization permits, and inspection of other supporting facilities such as worship facilities, parking lots and libraries.
