The dissemination began with remarks from Haendra Subekti, who noted that this event is part of a regular partnership program between BAPETEN and Commission XII of the DPR RI. Through this dissemination, the public gains a deeper understanding of the oversight involved in nuclear energy utilization across the health, industrial, and research sectors. Participants, comprising members of the general public, were also informed that the government plans to construct a Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN) in the future, prompting BAPETEN to continue conducting such outreach activities periodically. Furthermore, it was emphasized that the benefits of nuclear energy must outweigh the risks or hazards to ensure public safety and confidence; this emphasis highlights the crucial role of BAPETEN as the nuclear energy regulatory body.

Arif Kurniawan then expressed his gratitude to BAPETEN and Totok Daryanto for visiting the Godean community in Yogyakarta, noting that outreach regarding nuclear energy oversight is rarely conducted in the area. The event also provided an opportunity for the public to address questions directly to the central government, bypassing lengthy bureaucratic processes.

The dissemination event was officially opened by Totok Daryanto, who stated that communication between the central and regional governments is critical to promoting mutual understanding and shared perspectives. Events like this allow government programs to be effectively communicated, ensuring that, regardless of the administration, all efforts are directed toward collective prosperity. The government is committed to removing development barriers, including by sharing plans for the construction of the nuclear power plant. It was further noted that should a nuclear power plant eventually be built in Indonesia, the public need not be afraid, as nuclear energy would be utilized for peaceful purposes and to enhance public welfare.

As an integral part of the dissemination effort, Chrisantus Aristo Wirawan Dwipayana, a radiation supervisor, conducted an institutional outreach session. He explained nuclear energy, the nature of radiation, the utilization and siting of nuclear power facilities, radiation effects, and the regulatory oversight conducted by BAPETEN. It is expected that this dissemination will enable the public to better understand BAPETEN’s role and functions and to actively participate in nuclear energy oversight in their daily lives.
