The event was attended by representatives from various work units within BAPETEN, including the Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR), the Directorate of Inspection of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DIFRZR), the Centre for Regulatory Assessment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (P2STPFRZR), the Bureau of Legal Affairs, Cooperation and Public Communication (BHKK), and the Education and Training Division (Badiklat).

The event was opened by the Director of DP2FRZR, Mukhlisin, who stated that this dissemination was part of the Agent of Change (AoC) program for the 2025 fiscal year. He emphasized the importance of increasing the capacity of supervisory personnel, particularly in the field of horticultural product irradiation, which supports national exports.

On this occasion, a report was delivered by BAPETEN Junior Radiation Supervisor (Pengawas Radiasi Ahli Muda) Chrisantus Aristo Wirawan Dwipayana, who participated in the training program in Australia. This course was organized by the Indonesian Quarantine Agency with the aim of improving Indonesia's readiness to regulate irradiation facilities for phytosanitary treatment of horticultural export products.

Aristo presented various training materials, including:

• Fundamentals and application of phytosanitary irradiation,
• Types and characteristics of irradiators,
• Dosimetry techniques, dose mapping, and product separation
• Food safety and radiation safety standards,
• Roles and responsibilities of irradiation regulators,
• Capacity of dosimetry laboratories in Indonesia,
• Proposed follow-up actions to strengthen supervision and regulation.

The discussion session was lively, with various questions and responses from participants. Issues such as the role of dosimetry officers, quality assurance in the irradiation process, obstacles in the licensing process, and strategies for increasing the use of irradiation for fruit products were discussed.

Concluding the event, the Director of DP2FRZR reiterated the importance of cross-sector coordination between BAPETEN, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, and the BPOM (Indonesian Food and Drug Authority) that participated. He expressed his expectation that this synergy would strengthen regulations, increase human resource capacity, and support the safe use of irradiators to maintain national food export resilience and competitiveness.
