The activities began with a coordination meeting at the local Energy and Mineral Resources Office, attended by the Second Assistant to the Governor for Economic and Development Affairs, Elius Gani, SP., and representatives from related agencies such as the Environment and Forestry Department (DLHK), the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), and the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda). This meeting aimed to align MIR supervision between the central and regional governments. During the meeting, the BAPETEN team, led by Wita Kustiana, the lead of the BAPETEN Non-Reactor Nuclear Installation Licensing Function Group, presented regulations and BAPETEN's role and discussed the current situation of MIR producers in the province.
The main discussion covered oversight mechanisms to ensure safety and security, as well as identifying challenges faced. It was agreed that there was a need to improve coordination, collaboration, and outreach involving all stakeholders.
The activity continued with field visits to several locations. In the Ketapang Industrial Estate, Pangkalpinang. The team found that many MIR producers had ceased operations. Meanwhile, in Sungailiat, the team visited PT ACL. The verification results indicated that PT ACL had met several requirements, such as providing adequate storage facilities and radiation detection equipment, and having personnel possessing work permits (Surat Izin Bekerja or SIB).
