DL E&C was represented during the visit by its Representative Director for Indonesia, Park Sungnam. The meeting, led by Taruniyati Handayani, Head of BAPETEN’s Centre for Regulatory Assessment of Nuclear Installation and Materials (P2STPIBN), aimed to share information and cutting-edge knowledge regarding the latest global developments in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, specifically the High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) design.

In its presentation, DL E&C introduced the potential of the Xe-100 SMR technology developed by X-energy (USA). This technology targets nuclear energy applications beyond electricity generation, such as industrial heat supply and clean hydrogen production, aligning with Indonesia's decarbonization agenda. As the regulatory body, BAPETEN expressed its commitment to continuously developing an adaptive and applicable regulatory framework, including for non-conventional reactors like HTGRs, to ensure that any technological advancements can be adopted in accordance with international safety principles.

This meeting is part of BAPETEN’s role in keeping pace with the dynamic global evolution of nuclear science and technology. BAPETEN remains open to input and information from stakeholders, which will serve as a basis for formulating balanced regulations without compromising safety, security, and safeguards.
