BAPETEN Holds SIB Examination Services for Nuclear Installation and Material Officers at the Kartini Reactor

The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Directorate of Licensing of Nuclear Installation and Materials (DPIBN), was holding examination services for Non-Power Reactor Supervisors & Operators (RND or Reaktor Non Daya), as well as Nuclear Material Inventory Supervisors and Administrators at the Kartini Reactor (MBA RI-B), Yogyakarta. This is an implementation of Article 19 of Law No. 10 of 1997 on nuclear energy, which mandates that certain officers at nuclear installations must possess a work permit.
The examinations are conducted in accordance with BAPETEN Regulation No. 7 of 2019 on Work Permits for Nuclear Installation and Material Officers (IBN). To obtain a work permit (SIB or Surat Izin Bekerja), IBN officers must meet the requirements and pass the IBN examination administered by BAPETEN. The examinations consist of three types: a written/electronic exam, an oral exam, and a practical exam.
The IBN officer exam will take place over five days, from June 13th to June 17th-20th, 2025. The exam will be conducted in a hybrid format: three days in-person at the Achmad Baiquni Science and Education Area in Yogyakarta, and two days online. The practical exam will be conducted with assistance from the Directorate of Nuclear Facility Management, National Research and Innovation Agency (DPFK-BRIN). The exam aims to ensure the officers have met their competencies to ensure safety for them, the public, and the environment.
