The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), through the Education and Training Division (BDL), held an expert training that was carried out face-to-face on September 10-13, 2024, at the BAPETEN Office, Jakarta. This training is provided to prospective experts who have experience as qualified examiners by having conducted a minimum of 20 suitability tests for the modalities of general radiography, fluoroscopy, dental radiography, and CT scan, and have experience conducting a minimum of eight suitability tests for the modality of mammography in accordance with BAPETEN Regulation No. 2 of 2022 on amendments to the Regulation of the Nuclear Energy Supervisory Agency Number 2 of 2018 on Suitability Testing of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology X-Ray Machines. This expert training is a prerequisite for participating in expert competency certification.
The training activity began with a speech and report from the head of the BAPETEN BDL Nuclear Energy Supervision Training Working Group, Dessy Susanti, who said that in addition to the presentation of technical materials, this training also equipped participants to prepare for the certification test. "At the end of the training exam, a certification test will be carried out by the Quality Assurance team from the BAPETEN Directorate of Technical Support and Nuclear Emergency Preparedness (DKKN)," she explained.
Furthermore, the activity was opened by the Acting Director of DKKN, Agus Yudhi Pristianto. In his opening remarks, Agus conveyed the importance of prioritizing public welfare and security. "In the future, Indonesia will move towards independence to be able to produce domestic X-ray machines. As indeed, it is important for us to be able to ensure public safety. It is expected that this training can increase the capacity and competence of experts not only in terms of technical knowledge but also in terms of integrity," he said.
The four-day activity was attended by 14 participants from five modalities, including general radiography, fluoroscopy, dental radiography, mammography, and CT scan. The training discussed several materials related to the Supervision Policy—X-Ray Machine Suitability Test, the Role of Experts in Suitability Tests, Quality Management Systems, Specifications, and How X-Ray Machines Work for General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Dental Machines, Mammography, and CT Scan; Test Result Report Evaluation Techniques (LHU or Laporan Hasil Uji); and an Explanation of LHU Suitability Evaluation Practices to Expert Competency Certification Presentations.
